The work I do with couples is informed by my strong belief that relationships are sacred work. Sacred, because we are engaging in loving another person and empowering them to be their best self. Work, because it is daily effort that enables us to grow in connectedness with another as we allow them to see our shortcomings and love their shortcomings. I believe relationships are worth this sacred work and therefore am deeply committed to journeying with couples when they hit road-blocks along the way.
Pre-marriage counseling: Couples seeking to invest in their relationship and prepare for the gentle, delicate, creative, exciting dance of marriage are encouraged to seek pre-marriage counseling. This type of counseling allows couples to articulate their strengths and growth areas prior to marriage. Couples are then able to use those named strengths to help foster healthy healing as they address the areas in need of growth. Further, it is believed that couples who are willing to engage in pre-marriage counseling are more likely to stay married because they will come back to therapy for help and salvage their marriage before the marriage ends in divorce.
Marriage counseling: Marriage is a relationship that takes lots of love and nurture. Counseling provides a place to build strong, lasting relationships. I help couples learn to turn towards each other, empowering the other and subsequently nurturing and deepening their relationship.
Assessment: I am trained to administer assessments to each couple through the Prepare/Enrich Inventory ©. Prepare and Enrich © provides couples an opportunity to take an inventory of their relationship. The assessment will then compare the inventories and provide feedback for the couple including their strengths as a couple and areas in which they need to grow. The inventory offers different assessments based on the specific needs of the couple; pre-marriage, newly-married, co-habiting without marriage, and seasoned marriage.
